A critical bug reported in the latest system update has prevented Chromebook users from using Chrome OS. For some reason, Chrome OS does not recognize the user’s Google Account password after installing update 91.0.4462.165. According to 9to5Google, a failed update can cause other fatal errors like boot loops. Update 91.0.4462.165 is no longer available. Google has fixed the bug and hopefully it will be fixed soon. However, do not download or install any new Chrome OS updates to address these issues to prevent Google’s new fixes from working properly.
Do not restart your device if the update has already been downloaded but not installed. If you installed Chrome version 91.0.4462.165 and received an unknown password error, wait for the new update to appear. If you have access, please sign in again. You can still log in to your Chromebook as a guest and download updates even if your regular account isn’t working.
