Tips to Save Data on Your Android
Tip 1: Restriction on background data in apps
Some apps use mobile data even when using a smartphone. Background data allows you to monitor and update apps while multitasking or when the screen is off. However, not all apps should always use background data. Go to Settings >> Data Usage to view statistics about programs that are using your data.
Click on an app to see the background and background data usage of the app. Background data usage is data actively consumed by apps when they are opened. Background data is data consumed when an app is running in the background without using it. No action is required, it is automatic. This includes automatic program updates and synchronization.
Tip 2: Only use Wi-Fi to update apps.
One of the most effective ways to reduce your mobile data usage is to turn off automatic updates in the Play Store. Go to Play Store > Settings > Automatic app updates.
Tip 3: Account Sync Settings Should Be Optimized
By default, account sync settings are configured to auto sync. Use a sync service to sync files like photos and videos, and turn off auto sync for data-intensive apps like Facebook and Google+ that consume large amounts of data. Google always syncs data when changes are made. Most of these synchronization services may not be needed. This background sync service affects both data consumption and battery life. To configure sync settings, go to Settings >> Account. Here you can adjust the sync settings for individual apps. To improve Google Sync, click Google and select the option you want.
