How to be productive
How to be productive
Have you ever questioned why some of your coworkers seem to work all the time yet nothing shows in their work? Some professionals, on the other hand, excel at making themselves noticeable at work. Presenteeism is the term for this.
While being physically present at work shows commitment, it does not always imply superior results.
Furthermore, most organizations now have flexible work schedules.
While telecommuting, here’s how to find the appropriate balance between being present and staying productive.
Concentrate on the final product
It makes no difference where you work or how long you work. Setting and meeting your baseline expectations is what counts. Remember that your performance will be judged on how well you perform rather than how visible you are. Avoid putting in hours just for the sake of putting in hours. Don’t work as a performative presentee.
Use any spare time towards self-improvement
Due to traffic, professionals in a big city like Nairobi spend a considerable portion of their time commuting between home and work. Some people lose up to 20 hours at the end of a five-day work week. In a year, there are 127 days! That book should be written. Keep going in that direction. Read, and maybe even get a part-time job. Make a difference in your life.
Make use of job schedules that are flexible
You don’t have to go to work every day like you do now. So, what exactly are you waiting for? Some people thrive by working half of their days in an office and half of their days at home. They are able to break up boring sequences in this manner, resulting in improved performance. Why not give some of the possibilities a try?
Avoid being overworked
Nothing puts a greater pressure on professionals than their always-on coworkers. When you get at the workplace, they’ll be waiting for you. While you take a break, they choose to have their lunch at their desk. When you go for the day, they stay behind. With such coworkers, you may begin to doubt your commitment to the firm and your performance. But don’t be concerned. Just get on with your task unless your boss says otherwise. You are compensated for delivering goods, not for sitting in an office for long periods of time. However, don’t be satisfied with the bare minimum.
