Here’s how to stand out in job applications

How to stand out in job applications

You’ve probably applied for a number of jobs but haven’t obtained any because of  high unemployment rate. Brighter Monday recently received 2,417 applications  for a position as a Receptionist/Admin Assistant, while another advertisement for call center agents and team leaders received 2,283 applications. The figures were produced by ROAM Africa and highlight the current state of the African job market. According to the website, several clients reported applying for more than 20 jobs per day for several months and only getting to the interview stage a few times. So, what are your chances?

Obtain unique abilities

Although the average number of candidates per job ad is 200, and some jobs receive thousands of applications, not all of them are qualified. Construction and building jobs, for example, attract less candidates. Jobs with additional layers of obligatory requirements also attract a small number of applicants. I’ve seen us struggle to fill such positions, such as those requiring someone to speak Portuguese for a certain job. We’ve actually found ourselves looking for these people outside of our platform. Employers frequently face the problem of receiving a large number of CVs yet failing to find the correct fit due to the applicants’ insufficient abilities. We hear from a lot of employers who say they didn’t receive the proper fit.

Specialize

What we’re witnessing in the job market’s future is that technical abilities are becoming increasingly important in some roles. That level of specialized knowledge. So, let’s say we’re talking about IT. Mobile development and PHP programming are examples of highly technical talents. It is becoming increasingly particular in marketing, such as digital marketing and performance marketing.

So consider how you can stand out, become more competitive, and better position yourself. You must consider your personal progress as a candidate. That means you’re charting your career path and declaring at any given time that you’re purposefully honing particular skills in order to better position yourself. The goal is to be noticed. The most significant challenge is that we are operating in a very competitive business.

Customize your resume for each position

Applying for any and all jobs is one of the most common blunders I see individuals make. It truly does lock you out. I will never hire someone only because they applied in my company. As a result, applying for everything is a waste of time.

Find out how to use AI keywords

In this technological age, having a strong profile makes all the difference. Employers are hiring in new ways, and technology is assisting them in making objective hiring judgments. We now employ Artificial Intelligence and other methods to conduct technology-based recruitment, therefore use keywords to increase your chances of getting chosen. We have an application tracking system in place to assist you in being considered for a position. Best Match is a tool that shortlists 10 top profiles within seven days. So the employer can go into the system and find 2,000 applications, but the system will tell them which 10 profiles satisfy the criteria they specified, and they will review those first
