The Safaricom till number is an upgrade to the existing Lipa Na M-PESA till that allows business owners to collect payments on the till and utilize the money to perform other transactions straight from their till, such as:
- Pay someone else to buy goods till
- Make a payment to a mobile number.
- Pay a utility bill (Paybill) till.
- Make a cash withdrawal at an M-PESA agent.
- Earn commissions by selling airtime.

How do you start your till? (SIM Card)
- Insert the SIM card into the phone’s handset.
- Choose your favourite language by dialing 212.
- Make a practice payment to the supplied till number.
- You will receive an SMS confirmation of your payment.
How do I activate my M-PESA Business Till?
- Dial *234*2# and enter the store number to activate M-PESA Business Till.
- Terms and Conditions must be accepted.
- Dial *234*2# and input store number to receive operator id and start key.
- Change your pin by going to account services and selecting it.
- Create a new pin using the same start key as the old one.
To change your PIN for the Business Till, follow these steps:
- Select option 2 – M-PESA Business Till Then enter your store number by dialing *234# from your nominated number.
- Option 5 – Account Services – should be chosen.
- Then pick Option 1 – Change PIN from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the operator ID that was sent to you in the M-PESA activation SMS.
- As the start key, enter the old PIN you received via M-PESA SMS activation.
- Put in a new secret pin that you’ll remember easily.
- Replace the old secret pin with your new one.
- To confirm that you want to update your pin, select Option 1 and submit the request.
- You’ll get a notification confirming that your pin has been successfully changed and activated.
