Safaricom Tips on How to Stay Safe
Safaricom Tips
1. Recognize the official contacts for Safaricom. Only calls from 0722000000 are accepted by Safaricom.
2. No one from Safaricom will ever ask for your MPESA PIN, SIM passcodes, or password. Do not provide anyone your personal information.
3. Report imposters and questionable branded links/websites/social media accounts to Safaricom. On such platforms, do not reveal any personal information with anyone.
4. Keep your personal information, such as your ID number, date of birth, full names, and address, safe at all times.
5. Unknown calls should not be followed or keyed in. Safaricom customer service will never call you and then direct you to the nearest agent to reverse your transaction.
6. Other information, such as one-time passcodes, should not be shared with anyone. ATM withdrawal codes, authentication codes for Safaricom apps, and other services are just a few examples.
7. M-PESA, not the customer’s line, sends a real M-PESA message.
8. No refunds will be given. Request that the caller send the message to 456 or contact Safaricom for help.
9. Forward any fake communications you receive to 333. This ensures that the numbers are blacklisted and that no other clients are scammed.
10. Be aware of messages from unknown senders claiming that you have won or that they can provide you with cash or assistance.
11. Never transfer money to gain access to awards, loans, jobs, or relief.
12. Be on the lookout for threatening messages from callers. Police should be informed of any threats.
13. Don’t send money to strangers on the phone.
14. Avoid offers or texts that seem too good to be true. They’re fake and come from con artists. Engage the sender/fraudster in no way.
15. Customers should additionally text 333 with the phone number of the person who texted them.
