Important components such as sensors, holes, and contact points are prone to be harmed by dust, rust, oil, and organic debris. At least twice a month, you should clean the machine. You don’t have to go to the car wash, but if you follow the engine cleaning instructions below, you’ll save a few dollars in the long run.
Electrical lines and other critical components should be protected
The first step is to find moisture and water sensitive components such as alternators, car alarms, sensors, exposed filters and air inlets. Cover these components with a plastic bag, making sure to include the electrical lines. Use masking tape to secure them if necessary.
Remove any loose dirt or debris using a brush
Scrub the exposed parts of the engine using a wire brush. Larger trash and smudges can be removed from the engine bay by using the wire brush. Make sure to properly dispose of leaves and twigs, but don’t scrub too hard to avoid scratching the surface.
Allow it to soak in soap
Apply the soap to all of the engines’ exposed parts.
Use a lot of cleaning to get rid of the filth. Pay close attention to the engine section you’ve just finished. Avoid these spots since you don’t want the soapy water to pool in the plastic covering it. Allow at least ten minutes for it to absorb. If you’re using a pressure washer, put it to a low setting to adequately rinse the engine compartment. Alternatively, you can rinse off the soap using an ordinary garden hose. To assist you remove the cleaner, lay your thumb over half of the aperture to apply a little pressure.
